Strain and Company is a Specialist Litigation Firm using innovative and modern IT systems to provide an efficient comprehensive and thorough service to clients based in North Wales.
The Firm consists of experienced Fee Earners at various levels of seniority and with experience in excess of twenty five years of providing legal services.
Funding arrangements can be reached on a No Win No Fee basis or, alternatively, monthly payments or Legal Aid, should a client be eligible. The Firm has conducted cases in the Court of Appeal, Administrative Courts and regularly throughout the Civil Family and Criminal Courts in North Wales and the North West of England.
We aim to provide an efficient and compassionate service for clients who often are going through the trauma of court proceedings and personal difficulties and we endeavour to obtain the best result possible in whatever circumstances our clients find themselves in.
Michael Strain qualified in 1992, and obtained Higher Rights qualifications in 2003, allowing him to appear in the Higher Courts.
He specialises in criminal and personal injury litigation having dealt with the whole range of criminal cases from minor motoring matters to major murder enquiries.
He also deals with personal injury matters including standard whiplash injuries and major catastrophic injuries exceeding £1,000,000.00 in value.
He is a Court Duty Solicitor and a fluent Welsh speaker who can deal with cases entirely through the medium of Welsh if desired
Carys Parry obtained a joint Honours Degree in Welsh and French in 1991 before qualifying as a Solicitor in 1996. She worked as a Legal Adviser in the Magistrate's Courts in North Wales for 18 years before joining Martin and Strain solicitors firm in 2009. She specialises in Criminal and Family Law. She has gained vast experience in both areas of law having dealt with complex financial cases following divorce resulting in clients retaining valuable assets. Her experience working in the courts has proved invaluable providing her with the knowledge and skills needed to deal professionally with criminal cases at all levels. She is a Court Duty Solicitor and a fluent Welsh speaker who can deal with cases entirely through the medium of Welsh if desired.

Elan Parry graduated with an LLB degree in Law from Aberystwyth University in 2020. She went on to study a master’s degree in medical law with the College of Law in Chester before completing the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law.
Elan is a qualified solicitor and deals with personal injury law, family law and private client matters. In her spare time, Elan enjoys keeping fit and travelling.
David Jones is an Accredited Police Station Representative working with Strain and Company. David attends Police Stations and provides casework support, primarily for Crown Court cases but also in Proceeds of Crime and Magistrates Court proceedings.
David is qualified to advise at the Police Station having completed twenty-eight years’ employment with the CID in North Wales Police and gaining Accreditation through Cardiff University. David’s experience of Police investigations brings great experience to bear on the Defence side in all manner of cases providing a full dimension of experience and knowledge when defending our criminal client base.
David is involved with a number of Ex-Forces/Veterans Charities having served in the Parachute Regiment seeing active service in the Falkland Islands prior to joining the North Wales Police.
Alan Williams is an Accredited Police Station Representative working with Strain and Company. Alan attends Police Stations and provides casework support, primarily for Crown Court cases but also for Magistrates Court proceedings. Alan is qualified to advise at the Police Station and has gained vast experience having been previously employed with the CID in North Wales Police and having served in the Army. Alan completed his Accreditation course through Cardiff University.
Alan’s experience of Police investigations brings great experience to bear on the Defence side in all manner of cases providing a full dimension of experience and knowledge when defending our criminal client base.
Iola Roberts is a Legal Secretary. Iola is an experienced and knowledgeable secretary and can answer most straightforward queries over the phone or at the counter. If they cannot deal with your request, they will pass your message on to the person dealing with your case.
Sian Hicks qualified as an ACILEX Paralegal in 2024. She has worked for the firm since it was established in 2017 and has worked in the legal sector since 2001. Sian is currently studying for her Advance Paralegal Diploma and will hopefully move on to complete the final stage of her studies to become a qualified CILEX Lawyer.
Sian currently deals with private client and personal injury matters and can deal with cases entirely through the medium of Welsh if desired. Sian is an avid horror-film buff and enjoys going to the cinema in her spare time.
